Events Manager

Colour Paradise Greenhouses is a local, family-owned and operated business that strongly values our commitment to providing a large selection of quality products and excellent customer service. We prioritize offering an easy, organized, and beautiful shopping experience. Our greenhouse is 100,000 sq ft and located just outside of Kitchener (3 minutes West of the Sunrise Centre) in Mannheim.

We are looking for an experienced Events Manager to present and lead all events at Colour Paradise. You will be working in a dynamic environment, with seasonal swings; fast-paced Spring & Fall seasons, and slower Summer & Winter seasons. You will work closely alongside the owners and management team at Colour Paradise, who value excellence, quality, and integrity. Applications can be sent in to our email hr@colourparadise.com.

• Permanent with flexible hours, with opportunity for full-time hours for the right candidate, if desired
• Evenings & Saturdays will be expected for events, but will not be a requirement day-to-day

Your Responsibilities:

Primary:

• Presenting and leading events at Colour Paradise; primarily workshops, and also kids crafts as they arise; including but not limited to:
• Greeting attendees as they arrive and giving directions
• Conducting workshops in an organized manner
• Demonstrating the creation of the planter/workshop activity to attendees
• Assisting attendees as they work and answering any questions
• Providing relevant knowledge to attendees, such as plant care and tips
• Ensuring all attendees are treated with care and respect, and have a positive experience at Colour Paradise

Secondary:

• Responsible for any set up and take down for events, directing assistance as needed
• Ensuring workshop space is kept organized and clean
• Understanding our audience to conceptualize and present new, unique workshop ideas that will attract our target market
• Prepare design ideas (either a concept or physically made) to management for approval
• Provide all details relevant to events to management & marketing, including:
• Workshop/planter
• Date, times, length
• Key speaking points
• Supplies & materials needed
• Attendee capacity
• Ensuring all costs are calculated accurately, and working with management to price workshops accordingly
• Tracking workshop attendance and reporting on relevant KPI’s
• Staying up to date on trends within the plant industry that could be applied to workshops
• Suggesting any special guests we could host for events (such as book authors or professionals who could host workshops outside of planters, such as macrame, pottery, painting, etc)

Other Requirements:

• Capable of working in an environment with pace fluctuations; fast-paced Spring & Fall seasons, and slower Summer & Winter seasons
• Ability to work in greenhouse conditions; including sun, high humidity, hot and cold temperatures

Details:

• Start date: Flexible, ideally by mid-October
• Flexible hours
• Wages will be paid hourly with bonuses for each workshop attendee
