Blueberry plants can be long lived. They grow best in full sun with a well-drained, acidic, moist soil. Fewer flowers are produced in shadier spots. Fruit size and production is improved when two or more cultivars are planted together. A 4 year old bush may produce more than 400g of fruit. After fruiting, prune out any branches more than 4 years old, to ensure subsequent fruit production. 'Chippewa' is a mid-season type that produces sweet, large, tasty light blue berries.
