Helianthemum are, in my(TK's) opinion, very underused. The rock rose is an evergreen sub-shrub that forms a low spreading mat of green or silvery green leaves. The flowers are like a single wild rose, blooming for weeks at the beginning of summer. Drought tolerant once established, Helianthemum will tolerate poor, sandy soils. 'Wisley Pink' is a champion of edging, rock gardens or walls with its mound of silver foliage. Soft pink flowers have a yellow center. Full sun and sun, well drained soil is a must.
